Welcome to the PLRT !
The PLRT has members whose interests span a multitude of viewpoints: flora and fauna conservation, commercial mineral extraction, hiking and exploration, off road recreation and travel, renewable energy, local government issues, gem and mineral collecting, overall access and multiple use – the list goes on. Our member’s varied and sometimes conflicting concerns have a common focal point in the California Mojave Desert’s public lands, and how they are managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Round Table meets monthly with representatives of the BLM in an open setting to share information on issues and the efforts of the BLM’s Ridgecrest Resource Area Office.
The Ridgecrest office’s region is outlined below left, extending to the south to include the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster, and northward to include Death Valley National Park. The military bases of Edwards AFB and Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake are also included. The Ridgecrest region is a subset of the California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA) indicated on below right.
